Discover Izibele’s boutique on Roncesvalles for rare, slow-crafted, contemporary African gifts.
Izibele invites people to shop rare and one of a kind hand-crafted designs by its South African artisan collectives. Abi Pugh – the owner of Izibele – is dedicated to showcasing the distinctive talent of its small community of South African artists and artisans. Each one plays a significant role in skilled local employment. Dedicated to uplifting its makers, Pugh uses no middle man preferring to personally know each featured artist and hand-source each piece.
Izibele maintains fair-trading and socially-responsible partnerships with its artists – having them price each piece. This relationship allows Pugh to share special stories and valuable insight about each piece’s details.
Originally from England, Pugh travelled to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia often since the age of 18. During these trips, she met with talented artists and realized her passion for sharing the variety and skills that slow-crafted art offers. Browse Izibele’s collection of unique ceramics, bold and colourful textiles, telephone-wire baskets, playful beadwork and large sculptural pieces to bring interest into any room.
Izibele’s core belief roots in supporting artists, whether that be its small community or local Toronto artists. If any pieces interest you, Izibele also works with home-stagers and interior designers to add eye-catching details. Please contact Izibele for further inquires.
Visit Izibele on Roncesvalles for a unique selection of South African slow-crafted gifts and captivating collectables. Each purchase supports its artists in creating secure, skilled employment opportunities within their local communities.
