Studio Munge’s Bisha Hotel Serves Rock-n-Roll Looks

A riot of textures and materials electrify every corner of this boutique hotel

Studio Munge introduced hits of glossy black chrome, swaths of crushed velvet and bursts of burgundy and purple to make the Bisha Hotel rooms fit for rock royalty. But the contrasting finishes and textures also create a “tactile journey” from boudoir to ensuite within the Wallman Architects–designed building, with everything from the midnight blue leather upholstered beds and bar carts to the wispy mesh curtains asking to be touched.

Bisha Hotel - Studio Munge

Bisha Hotel – The ensuite features bespoke vanities in brushed nickel, polished black chrome and Nero Marquina marble.

These textures are echoed in the lavatory, where the design studio fashioned custom vanities with fluted high-gloss cobalt doors, lavish white-veined Nero Marquina marble tops and reflective stainless-steel legs. Making a “holistic design statement” throughout the two spaces is what elevates these bedrooms to boutique status. bishahoteltoronto.com

The Takeaway

Designer Alessandro Munge says the suites’ creamy white walls “perform as a fantastic canvas for the ranges of blues and greys,” and give the Grace Zeppilli–curated fashion prints that adorn the Bisha hotel’s suites “sex appeal.”

Town and country converge at this ultra-stylish country inn

Many city dwellers talk about moving to the country to start a B&B, or some other pastoral dream, but few actually do. During the pandemic, Michael von Teichman and Alex Portman did just that, chasing their dreams to The Eddie—an 1860s Loyalist manor house turned hotel set on 78 acres in prime Prince Edward County. Only a 2.5 hour drive from downtown Toronto, it’s a destination that’s easy to say yes to.
